Deidre has always been fascinated by handmade glass, and in her retirement has perfected the art of making dichroic glass jewellery and fused glass vessels.
Deidre explains “…the property of dichroic glass is unique, transmitting one colour whilst reflecting another makes it ideal for pendants, bracelets and cufflinks”.
Deidre selects the glass for fusing by colour, texture and appeal. She cuts it by hand and fuses it in her kiln at 788oC, then places the fused pieces onto a mold and reheats it so the glass slumps into the shape of the mold.
Her mastery of technique and use of colour and form result in a delightful celebration of the medium - glass.
