This month’s feature artist: Sandra Pearce
Sandra Pearce is a south-east Queensland-based visual artist whose diverse practice of paper, plant fibre, printmaking and painting focuses on natural materials. She is passionate about exploring the shape of things, curvy lines and luscious textures, finding her inspiration in nature and wild environments.
Sandra specialises in monoprints, a spontaneous and creative form of printmaking. She uses plants, string, lace and other found materials to create one-of-a-kind and often unexpected images which are rich in layers, colour, texture and flowing marks. She also uses monoprints to create beautifully-bound artist books which are hand-stitched together.
Sandra’s work is held in collections at the State Library of Queensland and the Brisbane Mater Hospital, as well as private collections throughout Australia. She has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows since 2003 in Australia and abroad, been involved in community programs and also facilitates regular workshops.
The Pine Rivers Art Gallery Shop has an impressive collection of Sandra’s unique yet affordable artworks, with stock ranging from postcards to beautiful handmade books.
