Home / Living / Community
Moreton Bay region boasts a richly diverse community. Many residents are either first or second-generation migrants who have come from 129 countries around the world.
Council welcomes and embraces the unique strengths and ideas of our multicultural community and indigenous groups and the contribution they make to the wider community by enriching the lives of all residents.
Local Area Multicultural Partnership
Council strongly supports the development of multiculturalism and in a joint initiative with the State Government is committed to the Local Area Multicultural Partnership (LAMP) program.
This is aimed at increasing understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity and providing better access to services and facilities for members of diverse ethnic groups.
Multicultural community organisations
Council supports community organisations that foster the activities and endeavours of multicultural groups in the region.
Multicultural Association Caboolture in partnership with Caboolture and Redcliffe Multicultural Forum is actively working to address difficulties faced by the region’s multicultural communities. It is currently working on several projects in the areas of families, youth, the aged and refugees.
These organisations promote harmonious co-existence of diverse cultures by organising social gatherings and events by exchanging cultural information through formal education and social activities, by conducting an annual multicultural festival, by consultancy, networking and offering training to support the local and wider multicultural community.
