Pine Rivers Disability Program
Pine Rivers Disability Program, in keeping with the Pine Rivers Respite and Support Services Philosophy, believes that:
"Every person is entitled to be treated as an individual and as much as such accorded the right to self-determination, respect and dignity and the recognition of the need to provide an environment which fosters harmony, independence and the opportunity for individuals to achieve."
The organisation is funded by the Home and Community Care (HACC) Program - a joint initiative of the Commonwealth and State Governments. The program provides respite services for frail older people and younger people with a disability both at home and in the community.
The Pine Rivers Disability Program is a community-based organisation providing support and assistance to HACC eligible clients and families. The Disability Program supports families by providing assistance with either:
- In-Home Respite ($1.50 per hour)
- Community Access Respite ($2.50 per hour)
- Centre Based Respite ($5.00 per day - meals not included)
Disabled access or ramps
We are committed to providing assistance to disabled persons to use paths and roads more safely by carrying out the following:
- Installation of ramps to enable wheelchair users and others to more easily move from path to roadway and vice-versa
- Installation of surface tactile indicators (areas of dots and dashes) to denote level changes on paths to assist the visually impaired
- We will, on request, survey a travel route to identify and upgrade problem areas e.g. unsuitable kerb ramps, to enable improved access to destinations
- Installation of audio tactiles at pedestrian signals
Community Assisted Transport Service (CATS)
Pine Rivers Community Assisted Transport Service (CATS) is a volunteer based community organisation, funded by Home and Community Care (HACC). CATS provides a door to door transport specifically HACC eligible people who are unable to use public transport or drive themselves due to health & accessibility reasons.
As well as providing transport, volunteers can also provide social support by way of help with shopping and accessing facilities. The service is 'pay as you go' and fees are as per Schedule of Fees. A client contribution will be charged to both the CATS client and their carer.
