Council remains committed to supporting indigenous affairs within the region.
Council supports the indigenous community through the facilitation of the Indigenous Service Providers Network and Murri Network meetings and attends (as required) the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Partnership Council meetings and planning sessions.
Council also provides support to the annual NAIDOC week celebration events and conducts an annual NAIDOC flag raising ceremony.
Community groups include:
- North Regional Murri Network
Supports collaboration, information sharing and networking within the group, the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islandes community and the broader community.
- Mereki Community Association
A community organisation based in Redcliffe that is dedicated and committed to working in partnership with Local and State Government Bodies and Agencies to enhance the quality of life of Indigenous people of this Community.
