Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Pet Education Program has been an important tool in our society over a number of years.
The Petsmart Team presents a new and exciting interactive educational program that is offered free to all schools and groups within our region.
Tailored to students
This program can be tailored to suit your school or group. From daycares, girl guides to grade 12 students - there is no limit. The program is aimed at increasing children’s knowledge of animal behaviour and how to interact safely with dogs.
It is vital for the presentation to be offered to all age groups to provide awareness and reduce the number of attacks, which may have been avoided with ongoing education.
Council considers this initiative a very important component of its Animal Management program and one of our long-term strategies is to encourage our future generations to be responsible pet owners and how to stay safe around dogs.
Meet Zapp
Zapp is the newest addition to the council team that visits schools throughout the region to teach students about safety around dogs.
Zapp (Ridgeback cross) has joined Council's other dog Smash (black Labrador cross) in helping officers explain to children how to prevent dog bites, how to live with a pet and how to treat animals well.
