Dog Registration

Some people in the community may not share a love of dogs, so it is important to respect their space and right to use public areas - at no point should the actions of your dog impede other people’s enjoyment.

Your Council is committed to encouraging responsible pet ownership to benefit the entire community.

Reciprocal dog registration

The following Councils have agreed to provide reciprocal dog registration for Pine Rivers residents:- Beaudesert, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Caboolture and Redcliffe.

Dog nuisances

Local Law 42 Animal Control (below) provides a general provision that animals must not cause a nuisance. Nuisance behaviour can include:

Penalties

The penalties under the Local Law have been substantially increased. In keeping with other legislation the penalties are described as Penalty Units and are set at two levels for a range of offences. For lesser offences a maximum of 20 Penalty units apply ($1,500.00). For more serious offences the magistrate may apply up to 50 Penalty Units ($3,750.00).
