Lost animals

If your pet has gone missing, contact the RSPCA (link opens in new window) on (07) 3480 6450.  

Found animals

If you have found someone's pet or animals roaming, please contact Council and if possible, provide:

  • Your name and contact details 
  • Registration tag number
  • Description of the animal 
  • When and where it was found

Stray and surrendered animals can be taken to the Dakabin facility.

Impounded animals

Any domestic animal found wandering may be impounded at any of Council’s animal management facilities.

Impounded animals may incur charges and or penalties

Council operates one (1) Animal Management Facility:

1. Dakabin Pound & Stock yard (RSPCA)

  • Monday to Friday: 8.30am - 4.30pm
  • Saturday & Sunday: 9.00am - 4.00pm 
  • Public holidays: Closed
