These stories are extracts from recorded interviews with people who lived in Redcliffe during the War. There is also an extract from the recording of an American sub-mariner who set up an R & R establishment in Redcliffe for American sailors, and two letters written by Australian soldiers serving overseas. The letters are read by noted Australian actor, William McInnes.

These photos do not necessarily relate to the person whose story they illustrate but are meant to convey a feeling for this particular period.
Stories are arranged alphabetically by surname and can be viewed in any order. There is no ‘beginning’ or ‘end’ as such – each story gives an impression of people and the life they led at that particular time in history.
