A

Abandoned vehicles
Council removes abandoned motor vehicles from roads & land under the control of Council. 

Access to Council information
Pursuant to the Right to Information Act (RTI Act), a person has the right to access information held by Council not available via Councils Publication Scheme. 

Advertising signs
Council controls all advertising signs visible from a road under its local laws.

Beach patrols
Swim between the flags at these patrolled beaches.

Beach permits
Permits are required for 4WD vehicles to travel on the ocean beach of Bribie Island. All permits are issued by the Queensland Parks & Wildlife Service, phone 13 13 04. Dogs are not permitted north of the 4WD access track. 

Bin collections
Bins are provided to all residents within the cleansing area. The bin with the green lid is for refuse and the bin with the yellow lid is for recyclable goods. Only non-hazardous household waste produced as part of day to day running of a household are acceptable in domestic bins.

Building
Building applications are required for all new building work.

Caboolture ShirePlan
Moreton Bay contains new and improved standards for managing the growth that will occur over the next 10 to 15 years. Zoning and overlay information from the ShirePlan.

Cemeteries
Location of cemeteries and columbariums and access to interment and cemetery records. 

Change your address
Council needs a current residential address even for residents who require correspondence mailed to a post office box.

Child Care
A variety of child care options are available in the Moreton Bay region.

Citizenship
Initial enquiries to take out Australian citizenship are to be made to the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, Phone 13 18 81.  

Community halls
There are many community halls available for hire which can be used for various community-based activities. They are suitable for a range of purposes including weddings, meetings, functions, recreational activities and celebrations.

Composting at home is easy; just follow these simple steps.

Disability access
People with disabilities, community organisations and Council representatives consider and initiate ways of improving access for all.

Discoloured water
Discoloured water can be caused by; illegal or incorrect use of fire hydrants, maintenance work, extension of water mains, etc.

Dog Registration
Council's regulations on dog ownership and registration within the region. 

Drainage - stormwater
Residents must not divert the natural run-off of stormwater. The downstream owner must accept natural run-off but may install a properly designed drainage system to reduce the effect on their property.

Employment
Vacant positions are advertised on Council’s website and are open to anyone with appropriate skills/qualifications/experience. Vacancies may also be advertised in local and regional newspapers.

Reach agreement prior to constructing any dividing fence. Fences higher than two metres require Council permits.

Fire ants could have a serious impact on our lifestyle. 

Fires
The lighting of an incinerator is prohibited in a residential area. Qualified and licensed operators only to set off fireworks.

Food safety program
Council maintains a strict public health food safety program including the monitoring of all commercial food production premises and food outlets.  Free food safety courses are held monthly or complete the training online now.

Footpaths
Residents must not obstruct footpaths in any way that interferes with pedestrians. It is accepted practice for the owners of residential properties to maintain their footpaths.

Frogs
Council encourages and fosters an interest in frogs. Create a frog pond.

Garden waste & mulch
Garden waste (green waste) disposed of at Council’s waste management facilities, both the landfills and transfer stations, is recycled into mulch.

Grants & funding
Council actively supports local groups and organisations to develop their sporting, artistic, organisational and community endeavours through a number of ongoing funding programs.

Grease traps
Grease traps must be cleaned out by a licensed contractor at regular intervals. Disposing of petrol, oils, grease, paint, etc. into a septic system or excessive use of disinfectant will have adverse effects upon the system.

Provides links to the Region's unique history & heritage, including photograph collections and heritage museums.

House numbers
Prominently displayed house numbers are essential to assist in the efficient delivery of mail and other services and aid the speedy location of an address in the event of an emergency.

Household sewerage treatment plants (HSTP)
The treatment provided by a HSTP is of a higher standard than that of a septic tank.

Council’s free immunisation clinics provide vaccines that are available free under the National Immunisation Program.

Injured wildlife

Libraries
Libraries provide a service to residents, those working in the region or attending local educational institutions and to residents of neighbouring areas.

Local laws
Local Laws are the highest form of local legislation. A local law is a law adopted by a Council that reflects community needs and ensures the good rule and government of the area. 

Lyngbya
Lyngbya majuscula (mermaid's hair, stinging limu or fireweed) is a naturally occurring, toxic marine blue-green algae, that has been identified within local waters.

Magpies
The Magpie breeding season peaks from August to October but nesting can take place anytime from July to December.

Marine rescue
Volunteer Marine Rescue, Bribie Island is on emergency call 24 hours a day seven days a week operating out of its base station in  Bellara. 

Mosquito control
Council's mosquito management program involves aerial treatments of saltmarsh and surrounding freshwater areas via a helicopter.

Mulching
Mulch is any material that covers the soil to stop weed growth and minimise water use. Mulch can be made from a range of organic materials including organic waste. 

Multicultural planning
Multicultural Association Caboolture in partnership with Caboolture and Redcliffe Multicultural Forum is actively working to address difficulties faced by the region’s multicultural communities.

Neighbourhood centres offer residents a variety of social and health services.

Neighbourhood watch
Neighbourhood Watch is a program organised by the community in order to reduce residential crime.

Noise control
Contact details for specific noise problems such as loud parties, building, power tools, swimming pool and spa equipment and licensed premises.

Council offers a range of services over the internet - pay your accounts; lodge applications; download and submit tenders; renew library books; business permits, licences, approvals, etc.

Overgrown land
It is the responsibility of owners of vacant land to keep their properties free of long grass and weeds, which could harbour vermin.

Parking regulations in Caboolture, Pine Rivers and Redcliffe. 

Pensioner rebates
Persons with either a Gold Card or Pensioner Concession Card and who reside on the property are entitled to apply for State Government and Council rebates. 

Permits, licences, registrations & approvals
Information and requirements relating to permits, licences, approvals and registrations for environmentally relevant activities, flammable & combustible liquids, food premises, personal appearance services, accommodation, advertising signs, caravan parks & camping grounds, commercial swimming pools, entertainment venues & events, filming, footpath dining, roadside vending and business licensing.

Pesticides
Lists recommended pesticides for lawn grubs, weeds and general use. Also identifies those toxic to fish which should not be used near rivers, canals or lakes.

Town planning (or land use planning) is one of the most important mechanisms available to local government to achieve important social, cultural and environmental management goals. 

Policies
Policy is a statement of strategic intent; it provides Council with a structured framework for consistent and transparent decision-making and actions. Policy demonstrates to the community the position and intent Council will take with regard to an issue identified in the Corporate Plan.

Council has five large marquees (approx 54m2) that are available for use by community groups and non-profit organisations.

Property & conveyancing searches
When purchasing a property, a Council property search will not only provide details on rates and charges, water consumption, zoning and flood information, but will also give you valuable building information.

Provision of street trees
Council will plant one tree per allotment on footpaths in residential areas.

Recycled water
Recycled water is purified water produced from the treatment and disinfection of water from the reclamation plants at South Caboolture, Woodford and Bribie Island.  This treatment results in a quality product, currently approved for irrigation and other non-drinking uses.  Recycled water is clear and looks and smells just like drinking water.

Recycling
Residents are encouraged to recycle these items. Recycling shop opening hours.

Red-eared slider turtles
The turtle, with its distinctive red facial marking, has no known predators and may displace local wildlife. The red-eared slider is an aggressive creature with the potential to multiply rapidly.

Retaining walls
Development applications that are solely for, or include, retaining walls are to include plans showing full construction details. 

Road safety
Unacceptable behaviour by motorists should be directed to the local police. Matters relating to road safety including signage and visibility.

School education programs
School and community education programs, such as catchment, energy, waste, waterwise, climate change, local government studies and responsible pet ownership. 

Seniors
Council values the wisdom and experience of senior residents and supports a number of programs and organisations that meet their health, recreational, social and intellectual needs.

Sewerage
Council is responsible for the maintenance of sewer mains through properties. Sewerage covers on-site disposals, household sewerage treatment plants and septic tanks and liquid trade waste. Discharge of petrol, oil, grease or paint into sewers is prohibited. Sewer lines and blockages

Smelly water
Regular testing ensures that town water supplied to properties meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

Sporting facilities
The region provides a multitude of opportunities for members of the community to enjoy sporting facilities of very high standard.

Sports, recreation & open space
With its many quality recreational grounds and facilities, Moreton Bay caters for sporting and active lifestyle choices.

State emergency service (SES)
Volunteer groups provide assistance to the general public and other emergency services during natural disasters and accidents. Emergency information broadcast through radio station 101.5 FM.

Street lighting
The majority of streetlight and/or pole maintenance on road reserves and along paths through and around a park is the responsibility of Energex. 

Swimming pools
Locations, opening hours and facilities at public pools in the Shire. 

Swimming pools and spas
Pool fencing laws require the pool owner to construct and maintain a fence around their swimming pool (regardless of when the pool was installed). 

T

Temporary homes
If you want to live in temporary accommodation on your property during the construction of your home such as in a shed or caravan you will need Council approval.

View, download and lodge Council tenders online in a secure environment.

Termites & Vermin
Residents should take precautions against possible infestation of termites in their homes, whether they be weatherboard or brick.

Tidy towns competition
Council and the community can submit entries into the Tidy Towns Competition under the Keep Australia Beautiful campaign.

Hollows developed in old trees have the potential to provide important habitat for many native animals.
